The National Convergence Technology Center’s Convergence College Network (CCN) community is happy to showcase students in information technology by capturing their testimonials. This month we’re featuring Georgina Maxine Graham, a student at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Click here to view the complete video.
Georgina is pursuing a double-major AAS degree at Century College in “Cybersecurity, Virtualization, and Forensics” and “Big Data Analytics.” She will pair those degrees with her other degrees: a Bachelor’s in International Business and a Master’s in Management Information Systems. Right now, Georgina works as a PC technician refurbishing PCs to customer specs. Typically, this means replacing the RAM, hard drives, and processors.
Georgina likes Century’s program and credits the hands-on labs with giving her a concrete idea of what the real-world IT workplace will be like. She’s also taking advantage of the college’s accelerated learning program that emphasizes self-study and gives her time to do independent research. Georgia hopes to land an IT internship this summer to add more skills to her resume. Looking ahead, she wants to boost her employability by earning industry certificates in security and big data before she graduates. If she weren’t in IT, Georgia thinks she would be working in retail.
