Did you miss these posts from 2018?
As 2018 comes to a close, the National Convergence Technology Center (CTC) wanted to take a moment to look back at the many topics covered in its blog. In 2018, the National CTC posted 37 blog entries. Using Google Analytics, the posts below were identified as among the most popular blog posts of the year. If you missed any of them the first time, here’s your chance to take a look. The posts have been organized by topic.
STUDENT VIDEOS – Creating short videos of student success stories from the institutions in our Convergence College Network (CCN) community was a request of the CTC’s National Visiting Committee (NVC), a panel of industry and education experts that reviews the grant’s work each spring. The hope is to use these videos to boost IT education recruiting efforts and further showcase the work of the CTC. They’re also a great tool for the students’ home schools to celebrate their programs.

FACULTY INTERVIEWS – A new monthly feature of the CTC blog is short interviews with select faculty members from the Convergence College Network (CCN) community. These Q&A interviews will spotlight the hard work of these instructors and give them an opportunity to talk about their unique backgrounds and perspectives on teaching and the IT industry.
CCN Focus – David Keathly, University of North Texas
CCN Focus – Bruce Caraway, Lone Star College
CCN Focus – Dwight Watt, Georgia Northwestern Technical College
BILT – The cornerstone of the CTC’s efforts is the “BILT model” that demands regular employer engagement to make sure curriculum aligns with workforce needs. If the goal is to make sure students learn the skills they need to get hired, then business and industry must take an active co-leadership role in the program. Many blog articles feature BILT model best practices or share insights from the CTC’s BILT meeting.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND CONFERENCES – The CTC participates in a number of special events each year, whether it’s hosting professional development training like Working Connections or making presentations at annual conferences. The CTC’s blog is a great forum to share best practices, preview goals, disseminate content, and explore lessons learned from those special events.
