Ride ‘Em, NetRiders
We always like to hear about accomplishments of students from our Convergence College Network (CCN) member schools. Belicia Miraval Albornoz, an instructor at El Centro College in Dallas, send word to us about recent success three of her IT students had at Cisco’s NetRiders competition. NetRiders is an online interactive contest that utilizes Cisco’s web technologies. Specifically, contestants learn valuable IT skills through online exams and simulation activities in one of three levels – CCNA, CCENT, and IT Essentials. Belicia’s three students competed in the CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) track.
Out of over 1100 students who qualified to take the CCENT first round exam in the US-Canada region, only 207 advanced to NetRiders’ second round. From those, only 170 (and just 19 from Texas) qualified for the finals. Belicia’s three students were among that elite group. El Centro student Divya Tomar ended up in the top 10% of all finalists with a 16th place rank. Her classmates Sergio Armas (47th place) and Mauricio Aguilar (60th place) also did exceptionally well. Belicia tells us El Centro intends to compete in next year’s CCNA and CCENT NetRiders competitions as well.
