Reaching Future Students with STEM Summer Camps
Summer camps can be a great way to introduce students to the wonderful world of STEM. They can also be great recruitment tools for colleges looking to increase enrollment in STEM concentrations. The trick is making sure the camps are super fun while sneaking the education in. Veteran CCN members David Keathly (University of North Texas) and Elizabeth Halweg (Fox Valley Technical College) are pros at running successful STEM summer camps. Given that they have so much experience, we have asked them to share their wisdom, trials and truths about hosting STEM focused summer camps for kids. They will be leading a one-hour free webinar on April 25th. If you’re interested in attending, just email Mark Dempsey and he will send you the info. If you can’t make it, we’ll be recording the webinar and posting it online.
In the meantime, we have a video of a presentation they gave in November at the North Texas Community College Forum on this very subject! Take a gander and get your questions ready – it will be a great webinar, especially if you are there!
